Tiger, Rory Mac Grace Cover of EA Sports Video Game in Total Coincidence
Last night, I was looking at the cover of my Sega Genesis version of EA Sports PGA Tour Golf II. I had no clue who was on the cover. Seriously. He was wearing a Wilson hat, but the photograph was so bad that I couldn't tell who it was. Did it really matter, though?
That's precisely why EA Sports has a relationship with Tiger Woods. People know and care who he is and what he looks like - particularly when it's rumored that his wife hit him in the face with a 9 iron (she didn't, I don't think). Given Tiger's paling around with ladies other than his wife, and that it's coincidentally a Ryder Cup year, EA decided it was a good idea to have Tiger share the cover of this year's version of the game with 20 year old North Irishman Rory McIlroy.
Of course, this has absolutely everything to do with the new Ryder Cup feature inserted into this year's game to go along with the matches at Celtic Manor this fall. Clearly it also has nothing to do with the fact that McIlroy has a smokin' hot girlfriend that he appears faithful to, while Woods isn't doing so well with that.
Get it? It's America versus Europe, infidel versus sweet youthful love! These things will sell like hotcakes, or porn tapes. Whichever.
What I'm not getting is why there isn't a Presidents Cup cover? No, really, guys. Why not? Is Jeev Milkha Singh not good enough to share cover space with Tiger? That's racist.
